Alba Airport Székesfehérvár - Airport in Börgönd, Hungary
After Ferihegy International Airport, located on the outskirts of Budapest, a new airfield will soon await travellers who want to visit Hungary: according to recent news Alba Airport will be ready to receive commercial planes in the near future.
The brand new airfield of Alba Airport will be built in Börgönd, near Székesfehérvár (located 63 kilometers away from the Hungarian capital), and will be an ideal alternative to Ferihegyi Airport for two reasons. First, because it will be located half way between the two most popular Hungarian destinations: Budapest and the Lake Balaton region - beside these, the host town itself,
Székesfehérvár is of great importance to many business travellers; also, due to the great motorway connections, one can easily reach any part of Hungary from there. The second reason, the main one, is that running costs and implicitly fees can be considerably cheaper here than on the busy airport of the capital, so the airport might be able to attract numerous low cost airlines and in the future probably charter companies as well.
Alba Airport will be a great choice for travellers, especially foreign tourists who visit Hungary to benefit of the thermal waters in the spa resorts of Hévíz, Sárvár or Bükfürdő, or to enjoy the beutiful sceneries around Lake Balaton. Business travellers or those who are interested in a sightseeing trip to Budapest, will be able to reach the capital in about 30-40 minutes (on the M7 motorway or with trains from one of the main railway stations), which is about the same amount of time (or even less) that it would take them to get to the local airport in Ferihegy in heavy daytime traffic.
